Lawsuit Trends in the Woodworking Industry -- PLM/ILM VP of Claims, Mike Lent, at the IWF 2016
J. Michael Lent, CPCU, AIC, Vice President of Claims for Pennsylvania and Indiana Lumbermens Mutual Insurance Companies, recently attended the International Woodworking Fair 2016 and discussed ongoing major lawsuit and claim trends involving woodworkers and their industry.
"What we see especially in the woodworking industries is loading and unloading incidents ... especially customers while they're loading or unloading materials off of our insured vehicles, they can find themselves injured," notes Lent.
It's extremely important to establish a loading and unloading area for your business. More safety recommendations from PLM/ILM can be found on their Loading/Unloading Checklist.
Lent continued to emphasize the importance of working with an insurance company that specializes in woodworking like PLM/ILM compared to a general provider:
"Pennsylvania Lumbermens has been doing wood for 121 years. It's all we've done; it's what we know, and the vendors we use are very familiar with woodworking as well."
As a company started by lumbermen for lumbermen, PLM/ILM continues as the premier property and casualty insurance provider to the lumber, woodworking and building material industries.
